6/26/98 - Aiko’s, Saratoga Springs, NY

1998 was a special year for the Seapods for many reasons. The band was ripping- blowing out clubs all over the country. Sowhen they announced an “acoustic and electric” show at Aiko’s in nearby Saratoga Springs for late June, the north country freaks booked their hotel rooms and gassed up their jeeps for some mean, mean driving. Everyone loves Saratoga in summertime.

Based on the number of views on Archive.org, this show has clearly been discovered and enjoyed by Seapods fans. It’s just inside the top 10 most listened to Seapods shows on the Archive. Negative Man loves this recording for a many reasons the top 3being:

1. A Seapods acoustic set?!?!?!?
2. Michael Murphy Trilogy opener?!?!?!?!?
3. Bolognius?!?!??!

The recording sounds fantastic. If anyone knows Dave Maley who uploaded the show, please tell him he’s the man. All the instruments are clear right from the first note. Brian’s keyboards and Tom’s bass cut through nicely. Vocals are level and punchy.

So many things to enjoy. A cool and different version of “Sad Corner” with a great improv jam into “Schizophrenic Rain” into an extended “Oberon & Titania”. The “Final Destination” is unique and well jammed. Then Dana tells the fans to “Get rid of those chairs” and they clear the room for the electric set which, not unexpectedly, rips. Listen for the guy in the crowd yelling “Give respect to the Monopole!!” between songs. It’s…. interesting. And of course, “Bolognius” to close the show complete with full-on freak out.

Enjoy!!!
