Happy New Year!! Negative Man is looking forward to catching the Seapods in March and April in the “Land of Misfit Mutants” aka Upstate NY (funny story- Negative Man, who dwells NOT from upstate NY, was first introduced to the term “downstate” when he met the Seapods, that term had NEVER entered his lexicon before).
“Private Party”
It’s obvious to any fan of the Seapods that the band has a special relationship with the city of Las Vegas. And why would you suspect anything else? Las Vegas is a perfect representation of the Seapods as a band. This month’s selection is a tremendous audience recording by Vin Isaia from an outstanding room-mix by front of house soundman (and mutant) Marty Racine on the first of a 3-night run at Legend’s Lounge in Las Vegas.
The Seapods were attempting to play 3 nights in a row without repeating any of their big hits. Dana introduces the show as a “private party” and the band jumps into the Michael Murpohy trilogy. What??? Seriously?? Yes, they opened their private party with the rarely played Michale Murphy trilogy. What a treat for the folks in attendance. And the night continues apace. Great versions of newer tunes like “Some Days” and old classics like “Buddhaful Bellie”. And we all know that a Seapods show can never really be complete without “Bolognious”. And godDAMN does the band deliver as only Vegas can demand. Great sound, great setlist, great fun.
Enjoy!!
