In the winter of 1991 The Ominous Seapods played live at the Plattsburgh State Sound Stage. It was -10 degrees outside that night so the whole city and surrounding area were home watching TV. The live airing of this show had one of the largest viewing audiences in decades and put the Seapods on the map in the North Country and made them local legends.

The Seapods had just recorded “Below The Murky Currents” in the fall of 1990 and were gigging regularly and writing songs. The band convinced Brian Mangini (who later became The Dark Horse) to move to Plattsburgh from sunny Miami. This show was his first gig with the band. Freezing his ass off, he had 4 days to learn the songs. Brian crashed on Max’s floor the whole time he lived in Plattsburgh where they partied and played music developing their sound and chemistry together. Sam and Max were old friends from High School and lived in the apartment where “Below The Murky Currents” was recorded. Tom (who later became The Big TP) was playing in multiple bands at the time, most notably Deeper Roots, a well respected Grateful Dead cover band that was earning him a lot more money that the Seapods. Dana was already legendary in the party scene. He and Max would go out on excursions in the Adirondacks and come home with stores and songs that ended up Below The Murky Currents and this video.

Murky Currents opening for God Street Wine at the Cutting Room in NYC. Mission Stadiums for Multiple Sclerosis (MS4MS) tour. The tour is sold out, but don’t give up - as time goes by, there will always be folks whose plans change, etc., who sell their tickets, so keep an eye out.
